Derek Moore graduated from the University of Florida in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a minor in Business Administration. He was attracted to the world of finance early and subsequently enrolled in the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College in Winter Park, FL.
Ready to make a name for himself in the workforce after a distinguished academic career, Derek left Crummer in 1998 with an MBA. For several years after he had graduated, Derek was a force to be reckoned with in the insurance industry. As an insurance claims adjuster, he worked on cases involving product and premises liability, wrongful injury and death, and serious automobile accidents. This work sparked what would become a career-making interest in tort law.
As a student at Seattle University School of Law, Derek Moore worked as an intern for the Seattle City Attorney’s torts office and gained a reputation as someone with a deep understanding of tort law. In fact, he earned a very rare A+ in his tort law course on the way to graduating magna cum laude in 2006. His outstanding academic career allowed him to hit the ground running at Bishop Legal and quickly become an integral part of the firm’s legal team. Derek is a hard-working, zealous advocate for his seriously injured clients.
Derek utilizes his tremendous breadth of knowledge in four primary areas of practice: construction site injuries, automobile accidents, and product and premises liability matters. His MBA and professional background in finance make him an expert at totaling damages in complex cases, especially when the claimant is a small business owner with assets that are difficult to appraise. Derek has worked on a wide range of cases included catastrophic injuries caused at railroad crossings.

Derek is a member of the Washington State Bar Association and may litigate before the Western Washington District of the U.S. District Court of Appeals, a privilege that enables him to handle federal-level tort cases.
Derek’s also a member of the Washington State Association for Justice and is an active participant in the WSAJ’s Speaker’s Bureau, holding forth on the merits of the Insurance Fair Conduct Act at conventions statewide. Super Lawyers Magazine also named Derek a 2012 “Rising Star”.
