According to news reports, the accident happened on Halloween evening, approximately 7:20pm, at intersection of North 9th street and North I street in Tacoma. An SUV hit a 7-year-old boy who was trick-or-treating and injured him critically. The boy was taken to Mary Bridge Hospital in Tacoma.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of vehicular assault, according to news report. Driver attempted to flee the scene of the collision but witnesses stopped him and were able to detain him until police arrived. Driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
